Chestnut Grove Foundation celebrated its five year anniversary with a Spring Celebration this past April, featuring programs by News 8 Naturalist Jack Hubley and Michael Helfrich, Riverkeeper for the Lower Susquehanna River. Hubley presented his popular wildlife program, and Helfrich talked about the challenges to the Susquehanna, demonstrating principles of river ecology.

A crowd filled the Blue Rock Heritage Center, enjoying ice cream and drinks provided by Turkey Hill Dairy and home baked goods compliments of board members and friends. Also on hand, were Millersville University students who helped out throughout the day and supervised activities for children. T-shirts were raffled and faces painted. The crowd learned about the animals in our own backyards and the rivers that are so much a part of our county. And the mill, carefully restored by the Washington Boro Society for Susquehanna River Heritage, was a perfect setting. A good time was had by all!
